H2CO – Formaldehyde

A colourless gas with sharp smell. It results from the incomplete combustion of carbon-containing materials. It’s found in car exhaust gases and tobacco smoke. It’s also found in the atmosphere, produced by the effects of sunlight and oxygen on hydrocarbons contained in the atmosphere. It’s often released from residential materials such as wood, chipboard, furniture, carpets, tiling, etc.
